Caching strategies can reduce the need to re-generate the same page when its content doesn't change between subsequent requests. But we all know by now that cache invalidation is one of the \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmartinfowler.com\u002Fbliki\u002FTwoHardThings.html\">two hardest things\u003C\u002Fa> in Computer Science — the other is naming things.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The Jamstack shifts the complexity of assembling a web page from the production environment to the integration process. This way, the power consumption for each HTTP request\u002Fresponse cycle becomes much lower.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Even without precise data to back this claim, I feel confident in saying that building content once and serving it from the edge is reasonably more eco-friendly than serving it many times from dynamic web servers.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Now — will this new way of building websites save the planet? Not on its own.
